Turron de
Doña Pepa
Ingredients:
Dough:
- ½ kg.all purpose flour .
- ¼ kg.shortening.
- 1 tablespon anise seed ( plunge into ½ cup boiling water )
- 1 tablespoon anise seed, yellow coloring drops )
Honey:
- ½ kg. Brown sugar.
- 1 molasses .
- 1 cinnamon stick .
- Orange rind .
- Cloves .
- 1 quince .
- Anise seed .
- Water .
Preparation:
- Mix flour with shortening . Add the cold infusion and knead thoroughly so
that all ingredients mix well. Add coloring .
- Line the sticks, the size of one thin finger and store it in a baking can
.
- Bake at 150 °c. ( 300 °F. ) for 25 minutes .
- In a saucepan , place all the ingredients for honey , add water to cover ,
then simmer. Strain 10 minutes later . Put it back to heat and leave it until it is smooth
. ( 240° in the termometer ) Let it cool.
- Sprinkle the sticks with honey, shaping the "turron"(hard nugat
-like consistency )
