Turron de Doña Pepa
Ingredients:
Dough:
  • ½ kg.all purpose flour .
  • ¼ kg.shortening.
  • 1 tablespon anise seed ( plunge into ½ cup boiling water )
  • 1 tablespoon anise seed, yellow coloring drops )

Honey:

  • ½ kg. Brown sugar.
  • 1 molasses .
  • 1 cinnamon stick .
  • Orange rind .
  • Cloves .
  • 1 quince .
  • Anise seed .
  • Water .

Preparation:

  • Mix flour with shortening . Add the cold infusion and knead thoroughly so that all ingredients mix well. Add coloring .
  • Line the sticks, the size of one thin finger and store it in a baking can .
  • Bake at 150 °c. ( 300 °F. ) for 25 minutes .
  • In a saucepan , place all the ingredients for honey , add water to cover , then simmer. Strain 10 minutes later . Put it back to heat and leave it until it is smooth . ( 240° in the termometer ) Let it cool.
  • Sprinkle the sticks with honey, shaping the "turron"(hard nugat -like consistency )
