Coming from Peruvian roots
Maximo San Roman was born in 1947 in Yaucat, a small
community located in Vilcanota valley in the Imperial city of Cusco.
Iit was the ancient city of The Incas where he made
his school studies. When he finished them he moved to Lima in order to study a
professional career. He managed to enter Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI) and
after hard years of study he graduated as a Mechanical Engineer of Production.
His interest in receiving further techcnical and
professional training led him to make a stage and specialization in different enterprises
of Europe, Asia and the United States where he participated and evaluated processes of
production of capital sharings and the transformation of metal for industrial purposes.
Once he was back to Peru, San Román pretended to
apply the knowlege he has gained abroad for the national industry. In 1979, he founded
Industrias S.A, a metal mechanic enterprise and since 1987 he is president of the
directory of Nova Perú, company of machinery for the food industry.
In 1990 he applied for the Vice-presidency for the
presidential list of the political movement Cambio 90, headed by the unknown engineer at
that time Alberto Fujimori. Winner in the second round of the elections, San Román was in
charge of the Vice-presidency of the Republic until 1992 when Alberto Fujimori decided to
dissolve the congress.
While he was in the Vice-Presidency, San Roman
participated actively in the decision making in the Parliament. In 1990 he was appointed
president of the Camera of Senators and later he was president of the Commission of
Foreign Affairs of the Senate.
As it is known by the public, nowadays Máximo San
Román works as a congressman of the Republic and he is member of the opposition party of
the Parliament. Besides his tasks as congressman he is president of Fundación San Román
and La Comunidad de Niños La Sagrada Familia, institutions that make social projection
activities.
