Tourism:

In Ancash, the geographical center of the department is formed by the Callejón de Huaylas and is one of the departments with intense touristic activities due to its large variety of natural attractions as well as facilities to practice many sports, and its large remains of the cultures that flourished in that region. The White Cordillera, the highest in the Peruvian Andes, offers an interesting attraction to many tourists coming to Peru.

The beautiful snowfalls and glaciars (White Cordillera), lagoons and thermal fountains, greenish and florid valleys, progressive towns are most admired by visitors. The Alpamayo snowfall is considered as the most beautiful one in the world and there are still some others like this one, that is the reason why Ancash is considered as the "Peruvian Swiss". The Highest snowfall of Peru is placed in the White Cordillera: The Huascaran. The Huascaran National Park is located in this place and includes part of the provinces of Recuay, Huaraz, Carhuaz, Yungay, Huaylas, Huari and Bolognesi.

The history of Ancash has offered many vestiges of old cultures like Chavin for the admiration of generations and the study of its origins.
