 Tourism:

In the great CastroVirreyna Plateau, scattered
out in the depths of the Andes Western Chain, there are pretty as much as 20 lagoons which
turn to be a great touristic attractive. There is nothing more beautiful and wonderful
than the landscape and the scenery that these giant natural reservoirs show. For the
fishing and hunting amateur the great lagoons and rivers become wonderful scenes. The
trucha, one of the most valuable species, is caught in the Orcococha, Choclococha,
Pacococha and San Francisco lagoons. Hunting is a sport and the deers, viscachas,
partridges, pumas and lynxes can become a trophy.
We can visit in this department the Sachapite Rocky Woods
(Bosque de las Rocas de Sachapite). The origin of these strange shaped rocks is ascribed
to the volcanic effluviums and cemented ashes. As a whole, they become whimsically shaped
what turns to be another of the wonderful surprises nature offers in these roughly
regions.
Currently it is one of the departments that forms the
so-called Andean Trapece whose objective according to the National Planning Institute is
to lend attention preferably to integrate its economy to increase comsumption and to make
possible higher levels of well-being for its population.
