 Geography:

Extensive fluvial zones, large
and small rivers crossing the foothills of "hoscas" and violent crests until dry
and low areas of the Jungle form an arterial system in the Department of Huánuco. It has
a rough topography. A deep canyon formed by the Marañón river is located at the west;
those canyons formed by the Huallaga are placed in the central zone; and the deep valley
of the Palcazu river in the east part. Alterning with this geography, we can find the
Anden Cordillera with snowfalls like the Cordillera of Huayhuash and the Cordillera of
Raura. The Carpish's surface located between Huánuco and Tingo María surpasses 3,500
meters of altitude. The Blue Cordillera is placed at the east part forming a division of
waters between the Huallaga and Ucayali.
In respect to Hydrography, the territory of
Huánuco belongs to 3 watersheds: the watershed of Marañón located at the west, the
Huallaga watershed in the central part; and the Pachitea watershed at the east.
