 Tourism:

Junín has museums, churches, squares,
pre-inca and inca ruins, snow-covered peaks, lagoons and artisanal centers. The Convent
Santa Rosa de Ocopa is the oldest and complete of Peru. It was founded in 1725 and played
an important role in the catechising of the Peruvian Amazonia. The Monastery has 4
cloisters that hold pictures from the Cusco School and sculptures in stone of Huamanga.
The Paca lagoon, at 3 KM from Jauja, is surrounded by beautiful mountains. In the area of
Tarma is to be found the Sanctuary of El Señor de Muruhuay. Every year homage is rendered
to El Señor de Muruhuay, in the month of May, mixing the religious fervour with a popular
feast. The city of Huancayo is surrounded by eucaliptus groves. Another center of
touristic attractiveness is El Ingenio, which is a trout breeding center. In Junín is to
be found the Junín National Reserve. There we find La Pampa and Junín lake and also the
Huayllay Rock Woods.
