It has important tourist
centers such as the Cathedral of Piura, the Tourist Hotel and beautiful beaches such as
Yasila and Colán in Paita. Among the archaeological remains of the Vicús Culture,
authentic masters of ceramics and goldsmithing, in Catacaos. The House of Admiral Miguel
Grau, nowadays a museum is another tourist attraction in this area.
The International Sullana Fair, the Semana
Santa in Catacaos, the festivities of Nuestra Señora de la Merced of Paita and the Señor
Cautivo de Ayabaca, are well known. Its music, besides the Tondero and the Marinera, has
been enriched by composers from Piura with famous "waltzes".
