Sarita
Colonia by Michel Gomez
Michel
Gomez has been characterized for combining reality
and fiction in the productions he has made for TV.
This time, he is finishing "Sarita Colonia",
a TV series based on a script by Eduardo Adrianzen,
based in turn, on the life of the saint of the needy,
Sarita Colonia. To know more about this new production,
peru.com talked to Gomez.
Why Sarita Colonia? This
is a script by Eduardo Adrianzen that was made many
years ago and that has changed with the years. The
first version dates back to 1993, then second to '99
and about two months ago, another version came to
my hands. I liked it and I decided to produce it with
Croma Producciones.
Does the script stick
to real life or are we going to have an out-of-context
Sarita Colonia? First, there is not only one version
of Sarita Colonia, there are thousands. Each faithful
has his own version about her life, and, in fact,
the crisis we are going through makes each one have
an idea where to find support.
And what is your story
about? It is about a reporter -played by Monica Sanchez-
who works for a controversial Talk-show. She is asked
to investigate Sarita Colonia's story, and it is then
when she gets involved and starts collecting the versions
of the faithful. Those stories are fiction, except
from the version given by the family, which we do
respect. We interviewed her sisters, who gave us their
points of view regarding their sister and her famous
death, since it is then when the myth arises.
What is the TV series scope? It is a reflection about
sanctity and about everybody's need to believe in
something to succeed, when actually, it is up to each
one. Sarita Colonia's miracles have to do with our
daily life, like to find a job, make a son succeed
in his studies, win a scholarship
Sarita Colonia
is the saint of the people who work and struggles.
